On a different note! I don't know what came over me, BUT i have decided A clam is no longer a need.. They are awesome and i was looking at a few at the first store just to look at. But i don't really need one, Not for a long while. Probably not until after i build my custom tank in my next house! (I'm young and freshly married --coming up on 1.5 years--, when we start to have a few kids we will have to move, so i want to build and build an AWESOME tank.) To me A clam just doesn't seem worth it in my current tank.

That may or may not option up some options for fish? It's funny some of the thoughts in this post, as my LFS is getting 2 Coral beauties in today, as well as a Melanurus. I've never seen a CB in person. so i'm going to check it out!

Very wise. I've had a couple kids in the last few years, and when we moved into our new house, I was originally planning on doing something in the 180-300 gallon range. Then I started considering the fact that we are already running out of space, and will probably only be here for a few years. I settled on something a little more manageable, and put my delusions of grander on hold for a while.

As far as colorful fish, I love anthias and fairy wrasses. Flame hawks are great for their personality, and unique behavior.

Starcki damsels can become quite agressive/chippy when they mature, which ive found out the hard way:(

I had one for years prior to this one without problems....it was a mature female from a breeding pair. Midas blenny though was the meanest fish I ever owned. Grabbed my other fish like a angry dog and would toss them out of the way. Tore up this damsels fins. Ya that fish is gone.

Your experiences may vary.

Yea depends on the fish really, still a stunning fish and one to consider as a last addition imo

Coral Beauties don't have the stand out bright colors of a Flame Angel, but they actually have far more color diversity than the Flame Angel does IMHO and depending on which one you get the color markings can vary. For example, some CBs are more of the central tiger stripe pattern and others are more of the head and tail sapphire blue/majenta color scheme. Mine is the latter and honestly it's the look that I love for Coral Beauties. My Hydra 26HDs make the sapphire blue just glow when it gets right in front part of my tank. Funny thing is that it didn't look anywhere near that spectacular at my LFS, but it was the only one that they had and it was hanging out with a Yellow Tang (and I wanted a CB and Yellow Tang combo at the time, so I went ahead and got it, unfortunately the YT didn't pan out). It wasn't until I got it home and saw it under the full lights that I realized just how pretty a fish it was. Here is mine:

Personally never kept any bit I'd advise to avoid them as they are mean and agressive, especially if you want a gramma of some sort these 2 groups of fish will fight to the death, the orchid and sankeys Dottybacks are the most peaceful, but if you want them i wouldn't add a gramma aswell

Yup, Dottybacks are known to go after fish 2-3 times their size and there are many horror stories of people trying in vain to catch them and remove them from their tanks after they go on nipping/killing sprees (similar to the 6 line wrasse). The captive bred Orchid Dottybacks tend to be better, but they are still a dottyback. I would skip them.

I have an electric indigo dottyback that is very tame. Actually more peaceful than my clowns.
I've had an indigo and now a magenta dottybacks, they were both very docile but I've also had a neon which was an absolute nightmare.

I love angels and see a lot of mention of coal beauty's but my potter's grabs everybody's attention... until I added a regal, that fish has stolen the show! Just can't keep zoas and clams

Potter's is high on my list after my Coral Beauty goes the way of all the earth. The only issue is that the Potter's is significantly more expensive and harder to come by (and the CB is generally more hardy).
