Need help with placement of coral we are picking up tomorrow. 1 is sand or flat rocks on sand. Then we go on up to 4 where the most light gets. I don’t have an issue putting coral in the back of the rock structure. I will just post the type of coral rather then full names, if full names would help more i can post them.
Thank you for your help in this endeavor!
2 Acan
1 Chalice
1 Favia
1 Frogspawn
4 Monti
1 Mushroom
1 Torch
1 Xenia
8 Zoa

Torch, frogspawn, favia, acan, mushroom can act aggressive.

Monti and chalice are plating.

Xenia will take over tank if unchecked.

You can work around it and keep some if you want. No offense but why did you buy so much coral without knowing first?

I do tons of research on fish always but i was stuck in a mind set of coral=plant. Obviously i have since found that is not true and started researching but a little to late unfortunately. I am trying my best to right the wrong but its going to take awhile unfortunately. I will post most of the plating ones to sell away locally.

You can figure it out with time get some small rocks mount the corals on there so you can move them around you can make it work. Put all the zoas on one large rock they take it over. Monti's up top. They need good light . Put the xenia on its own rock touching the sand only like the size for a baseball and it will take over that rock and that rock only, you can always trim them back. Torch and frog spawn each on their own rocks away from each other. Here are some photos to give you some ideas.

I can move rocks if the coral needs more or less light or does not play well with another.

Thanks! I will be going over the guide you shared and act accordingly. I woll more then likely be trying to downsize the amount. I can talk to the owner since they were auctions and see if he will cut me some slack. I have dropped about $400 in 2 weeks not including the 200-400 in coral i am about to spend so maybe he will take mercy on me.

The other guy gave some good tips, but once you put the monti on top and they grow, anything under it will die because it will be shaded. My tank is 20 gal and i try to avoid those plating corals since i got limited space

So looking into it i can cut 3 coral out 2 monti and a chalice and this should be managable. I am going to try and plan the 2 monti out and see if i can get it to go in a very specific area that i cant even place any coral any ways to mid agate that issue.

Acan Mystic $16
Favia Toxic Zombie $32
Frogspawn morph $35
Monti Screaming Demon $15
Monti purple and pink $11
Mushroom Watermelon $25
Torch Red trumpet $15
Xenia Cloves $41
Zoa Combo $14
Zoa indo combo $15
Zoa indo combo $20
Zoa eagle eyes $50
Zoa vamps in drag $33
Zoa indo $10
Zoa armor of the gods $30
