Coralline Algae Survived Dry Rock?

I have recently started a Nano reef tank with dry rock and a live sand bed. I have started to notice some purple and pink patches on the dry rock lately. I really don’t think these were on the rock already. Unfortunately didn’t take picture of the rock when it arrived. Could this potentially be coralline algae ?

If so how has this entered the tank as I currently have no corals and only livestock is a pair of clownfish.

My guess would be maybe spores in the live sand

it could be, it's possible some small spores of coralline survived. time will tell!

It doesn't look like 100% coralline algae; it’s similar, or maybe it is, but the pictures are blurry.

It looks like coralline algae to me, unless it is artificial and was on the rock when it was dry.

Purple, pink, green, brown, etc... the rocks will get all different colors of various algae on them as they mature. Coralline typically starts on plastic parts like powerheads long before rocks.

Nothing on any plastic parts yet maybe it’s just some stains in the rock. I suppose we will soon see

my first Algae bloom is also starting in my tank so we’ll see how that goes

Yea fake rocks get all kinds of funky colored algae on them and eventually brown out with some green slime before coralline starts.
