Currently I have my scolys seperated from my croc island scolys, but I'm wondering if anyone has experience placing them next to each other?

I thought I read once that the croc island variants are pretty agressive, but I cannot locate where I read this, and the more I think about it I think it was specifically for the smaller button scolys.

Thanks!

Might just try moving one of them next to each other and see what happens. I’ve seen scolys eat Acans so I know those two don’t go together but we will have to see how these guys do.

Hey OP have you noticed any difference in the care between a croc island and a "regular" scoly?

Only thing different I've noticed is that the croc's seem to do ok with more flow then a regular one.
Another difference between the two is that the feeder tentacles of a croc seem to be shorter than the regular ones, though it appears to have more of them. Neither seem to have any sort of sweeper.

Ive seen a regular scoly attack and eat an acan, and it looked like white strings coming from the side of the scoly. It's possible this was coming from the acan as a defense, but the acan didn't win.

Alright, here goes nothing!
The one on the far right, that looks like its neon green with blue stripes is a croc, along with the smaller red one just above it that you can barely see. I have the croc next to two that I just added. The others are regular types.

First couple of hours seems ok, only time will tell. I'm sure I will start seeing something by tomorrow. I am running carbon.

Experiment over. The two bordering my croc island are Scolymia-vitiensis (though I'm told they have a new name, Homophyllia but are still known as scoly's - so maybe not a fair test?). Note they are more bumpy in appearance and don't really inflate. Believe the others are Scolymia-Australis. Not sure what the croc's scientific name is.

Woke up this morning to find the Vitiensis attacking the croc. Seemed ok yesterday night before I left them. Ive now separated them, and hopefully the damage to the croc doesn't kill it off.

Conclusion. Don't put croc island scoly's directly next to other scoly's. Give'em space.

Also, doesn’t look like Australis and Vitiensis like each other.

did your scoly recover?
how often and how long you have had them?

They recovered and are all still alive, though the croc islands have passed due to being picked at by fish. I have a blue tang that is prettt good at redecorating and it really likes all things scolys. The rest of the scolyies have been through a lot. This Jan/Feb I caught the start of tank crash and was able to save most of everything with some big water changes, though I was too late is some regards so I think it was my fault for the cause. I did a chemical treatment, and I think I used an expired cayano treatment and then I forgot to do the recommended water change , and also didn’t add carbon back in. Some scolys have recovered, some still are doing ok, and the only ones lost were the crocs but that was due to being flipped by my tang.
