Just sharing a small workaround I implemented this afternoon. If you are an iPhone user like me using apex. You hate that it is impossible to set individual alert sounds for it because it’s a 3 party app. This always result in always having to go out your way just to check your phone every push notification you get just to make sure it’s not tank related.
Years back I solved for this by using the default phone carrier email to sms gateways and then Setting a custom alert based on the contact name of the sms sender. However most carries now have stopped this option or severely delay the response making this approach useless or unusable if apex blocks your number due to unusual activity
After mine was blocked I kind of put this to the side but have now grown annoyed by it. So I went with a new workout below.
Note- this will only work with severs that support realtime push notification in the Mail app. iCloud and Microsoft seem to support this Gmail and others does not. I choosing to use iCloud as it apple to apple and seem a bit more response then outlook also i don’t use my iCloud for emails. You must use the email you create strictly for the purpose of apex alerts to make it distinguishable.
Steps
1) Setup up an iCloud email if you don’t already have one. You can do this in the iCloud menu of setting and this should automatically carry over into your mail app after
2) change the alert sound specifically for that mail box. Because the mail app is not third party it gives the ability for dedicated sounds. This is why you need to use a server that supportes realtime push in the Mail app. I paid a dollar and downloaded a horn alert that really stood out.
To change go to setting , then notification, find and click on Mail, then custom notification at the bottom. Click on iCloud or what every push server you choose. Then finally you can select sound and change your alert to something different then your normal push notification sound.
3) go back to the main screen of setting. Go down to the bottom where it says Apps. Click on it and find the mail app. Go into mail accounts at the top. At the bottom click on fetch new data and then confirm that your iCloud is set to Push not fetch
4) go into fusion. Go to notification and add your iCloud email and test. You should get an alert in a few seconds that has the alert tone you selected to distinguish your apex Email alerts only.
I would recommend keeping push active as well. Changing the tone and this approach is to give more of a second distinguishable confirmation
