It started as a small patch..... and I didn't think much of it. Blow it off and siphon. Well now it's a constant battle. All over my scape. It's been about 4-5 months since I changed my carbon filter on my RODI unit so I have a full kit change on its way. I'm hoping that will help. My other thought is to slowly change my scape to all real live rock now that we can get it from FIJI again. Any thoughts?

Its not really known exactly what causes cyano, it does seem to be caused by low flow and increased doc's. So these are the 2 things I would recommend to review and tackle first. I would suggest to try to beat it naturally, I am not a regular sand vacuum, but I have found that when I have cyano vacuuming the sand seems to help. If all else fails, chemiclean is a product that I have used with success to get rid of it. Good luck

What's crazy is there is literally ZERO Cyanobacteria on my sand, just the rock. Now I do have a yellow faced sleeping goby that never stops sifting the sand. And it grows on high flow areas where acros are at. It started when my PO4 bottomed out and it's been a battle since

How bad is infestation? If extreme, I use chemiclean.

Please post picture with white light.

Often, when Phosphate bottoms out, Dinoflagellets rear their head.
