Hello guys,
I have already quiet a time a problem with cyanos. Trying now some ways to get rid of them.

Did an ICP Test where I noticed an extreme Nitrat/Phosphat ratio of 260.

I v read some threads with "ratio doesnt matter" and some with "ratio is important".
Want to try out now the second opionion that maybe the ratio is important for my tank and cyano grow.

Nitrat: 8,8
Phosphat: 0,03x

Afaik the values of these 2 parameters itself are fine, but not the ratio.

My ICP telling me a reference range between 90 and 110, mine is 260.

How should I continue to lower that ratio? Getting Nitrat lower or getting Phosphat higher?

What are ways to change one of the parameters without changing the other the same time?

Tagging along … I’ve NEVER figured this out as I’ve never been able to verify any pattern other than:
both high= cyano
both low = cyano
one low one high = cyano
no flow = cyano
moon phase/ high tide = cyano
upset stomach = cyano
et et….

There is no pattern, right? Water chemistry is not very good predictor of algae growth of any kind, in part because the pre-bloom conditions that get the ball rolling probably happen weeks before. The current conditions are likely irrelevant.

Dose nitrate to increase nitrate or use GFO to remove phosphate. There are an infinite ways to obtain this ratio.
