Cycling Water Test Results Help

It cant hurt anything if you add it, but it could be a waste of additives.
Thing is, unless you know whats in the water its impossible to treat.

Just curious why you think the LFS seawater is bad?
I know you said its by the airport but, do you know of other local reefers that use it? Are they having success or issues?

I would think that if there were issues with the seawater the LFS sells, nobody would be purchasing it.

Very true! In that case I should look into it.

I'm just overly worried that I'm going to bring some sort of contamination by putting in live rock or ready made sea water to the tank. I'm probably overthinking it!

Hey better safe than sorry.
Its good to research and ask questions.
Thats how we learn.

Just ran another test now. This is how I am looking now:

Did you do a water change?
If not I find it interesting that your nitrate dropped so fast.

No water change yet. Honestly haven’t done anything other than putting in a lot of carbon in the filter like the LFS told me to.

I will do a water change on Friday with some distilled water. Like the one I showed you online.
Probably about 20% because I did one last week with about 30-40%

I guess the carbon would could lower it.

Do you see any brown algae starting?

Not that I can see, although I may be blind to it. I do see tiny brown balls in one corner on the sand but I just thought it was rotting fish food. Maybe about 6 or 7 or them.

Just an update... I did a 40% water change today and took some water back to my LFS for testing. His results were 5+ Nitrites again when I only got 0.5

He then stopped using API test kit and changed brands to which my water came up with undetectable Nitrites!

So my cycle is now officially complete and I purchased myself two beautiful looking clowns. One is two inches, other is slightly smaller.

Will share photos soon!
