Dalua Illumagic x4 Pros

I was wondering if anybody had experience with the Dalua Illumagic x4 Pros. I am setting up a new saltwater reef and wanted to get a pair of these for the tank (a 62 gallon Tideline Lagoon with dimensions of 48.5in x 18.5in x 15.something in). I wanted to go SPS dominant with a few LPS that can withstand higher light. I have heard good things about these lights but wanted to get other opinions and experiences with them. Pictures of your successes or even failures would be great!

I think they're another overpriced, under-powered fixture with an okay spectrum. I think there are better choices out there, but that's just me. I would do an all Quanta Helix combo over using any of the more pricey options out there and get more for my money. I think the Straton X is a super nice fixture (especially the aesthetics), but they're not cheap.

Yes, there’s a well known vendor near me that uses them and I didn’t really care for the spectrum. I think @TelegrahamTested LLC tested these? Spectrum is paramount for me, which is why I use Quanta. I’m sure the x4’s will grow coral just fine, like 99% of fixtures out there, but there are those that are worth spending your money on.

The Helix is an excellent light but I needed five 71” for my 78” tank - too bulky and required DIY mounting 12” above the tank. I might consider 5 ReefI UNO 2.1. Thanks for the X4 TelegramTested analysis

If you had the choice then, what light would you choose other than quanta? I am not a fan of bar lights as a main fixture as it lacks spread I would need for sps. I would likely use them as filler lights to prevent shading however not as a main fixture. I enjoy the spectrum of the X4s pros and wish to have some shimmer on the bottom too.

I am aware of stuff like Reefi Unos however I would prefer more mainstream suggestions as I have access to discounts on more mainstream lights i.e. Hydras, Radions, Kessils, Dalua, even a few Reefbreeders I believe.

Nope. I've tested the Pixel, and you can find that on Humblefish. Over there you'll also find my challenge to the Pixel vs AI Prime marketing that Dalua shared. TLDR...my opinion is that their marketing leaves much to be desired.

I'll pay shipping for anyone willing to share their X4 with me, and I'll return it with a gift card.

Im also looking into these lights cause the app is what luring me to get the light as well as being able to mix and match the led clusters.

Quanta will be releasing a panel fixture (two sizes) in September, other than Quanta, the only big name fixtures soups be ATI Straton x or the GHL Mitras. I love Kessil’s, but I like to use them with other fixtures or for special setups.

Illumagic is the reef lighting equivalent of snake oil. Their spectrum in real life is not the spectrum advertised (multiple independent sources online have verified), their power claims are overblown and functionally (spread, etc) they're really not that good.

If you see people running them over actual tanks, you'll notice they have a LOT of them over their tanks because they are like under powered laser beams with no coverage. If that's the light you choose, be prepared to buy more of them than what you might think you need.

A three bar Quanta Helix combo would grow anything you'd ever want to grow in that tank. A couple Nicrew HyperReef Gen2s would work. It just depends on the look you're going for, really.
