Damaged torch flesh band

My newest torch had a small cut on the flesh band when I first bought it and instead of it healing it looks to be getting bigger. Any idea on what it could be? Bacterial, fungal, or just normal healing process?

First picture is day one, second is day two and third is day 3 of having the torch.
