Need help with disease ID. My black/white clownfish died all of the sudden and it has a whitish cottony infection on its belly. I have another orange/white/black clownfish that has a smaller whitish patch on the left under the jaw. Today the black/white one was at bottom barely alive and the nauseous snails were on it a already. I got the other one out into my quarantine tank. They have been hiding in the torch so I may not have noticed the infection coming on until it was too late. Not sure.

Two things of note have happened recently. About two weeks ago, both clown started hosting in a big torch colony. Could that have hurt them?

The second thing is I was starting to get some cyano under the sand line along the glass in front of tank, so I did a sand vacuum to try to get it out and that may have overly distrusted the sand.

Any help appreciated.

Possible the damage is from the snails and not directly related to the cause of death.

If the living one is showing a similar white patch, it could be a bacterial infection. You can try treating with a broad spectrum antibiotic like kanaplex or neoplex.
Did the fish act off at all?

I’m not seeing anything diagnostic in the photo, can you post a video?

Any chance of pics under white light you may have saved. Pic #2- are those little worms amongst the growth?
The other clown, any unusual look to the feces?
Was fish bloated prior to developing this?

Spot appears to be post injury and should heal on its own however keep an eye on it for healing and not getting red or sore. Same with gill plate which appears to be injured

Yes, possibly. My son noticed fish lying on sand bed and said there was a snail on the belly. Fish was alive still, but barely.

Nearly two days in QT. Fish is hiding behind the heater. Eating some, but not too much. The spots seem the same or possibly a bit better.

Is it possible the dead fish fell asleep in the torch and a snail got to it while sleeping and killed it?

Are those newer pictures any better?
Sorry, no help. A video tells me the fish’s respiration rate and general attitude. YouTube links are probably the easiest way to post them.
