Have you been paying more attention to your clownfish than your significant other? Maybe the predator is outside the tank. Chrck for pelicans as well. on the serious side very sorry for the loss. It always sucks to lose something and not be able to determine what happened.

I say jumped or in the overflow/sump/filter. Maybe hiding. I bet the live rock from the LFS was just wet, not ocean rock. No mantis shrimp is my guess.

A picture of the tank, the cover and the overflow/ sump will defiantly help.

just an fyi...you buy the live ocean rock for all the bacteria and fauna you can't get in a bottle. to kill everything on it (or attempt to) you might as well just buy Caribbsea and save the money but have the long wait through ugly stages.
Yeah I have live sand and they made me buy 4 live rock. The kid didn't care when he gave me the last rock and didn't check it like I told him to. just cost me money. Then I find out I have 3 or more hitchhiker's from one rock and now need a file fish. I'm into coral so had to pay for him and he's ok only going back. Just a scam. Then was told I need to buy Pepper shrimp but you need 3 they cost 30.00 yadda yadda. Nahhhhhh I did it my way and dryed the rock. Now have dead fish and tank screwed up not ready for coral which it was..... Learnt my lesson the hard way. I should have known better. I just want two clowns nothing more. Learn and live....:)

How long has your tank been set up? You posted 10 days ago that it was a new tank. How did you cycle the tank? What are your current parameters? Did you QT the fish? Please post a full tank shot? Do you have a cleaner crew in there? No the little file fish did not eat the clowns.

Your tank was not "ready for coral"...

Tank would have been ready for coral if you didn’t kill the rock

Hitchhikers are inevitable, just catch them over time. Super easy in a nano.

So I have had my clowns with this file fish that I was told I needed my the store. I wake up no clowns. They disappeared!!! I'm ticked who else but the file fish! There should be fins or something around. He wasn't fat and those where big clowns. What happened? Mystery at our house.
If you have them, check your overflows as they easily slip thru the teeth of the flow box and even end up in the sump

Yeah I blamed everyone I could but some weren't even home so that didn't work.

my the clowns ate each other and your cuc cleaned up the mess? seriously though, I bet mantis. they can pull it inside of the holes in the rock in pieces. did you move any rock around to verify? I know you said you've checked but one of my clowns jumped the wall into the back sump. then I got the in tank separator screen. do you have deep sand? maybe you have something that dragged it under?

If I have another snake in the sand I will lose it!!! This sounds like a horror movie.

More than I've got!

@Ocean2222 You're getting some solid advice from some well respected reefers here (not me).

As others have said, a full pic of your tank and setup is often very helpful, as are the details of how and when you set your tank up. A lot could have happened here, and a killer file fish is the least likely :)

You buy high-quality live rock specifically for the organisms living in and on it. The overwhelming majority of those organisms are widely considered beneficial to your tank. Very few are such terrors that you have to go nuclear to get them out.

...or, embrace them ;)

Most of us think of these tanks as a whole ecosystem, with critters large and small, all doing their part to help your tank along. Some may be off-putting to you now, but I think the more you learn about these hitchhikers the more you'll welcome them in your tank.

And, if you do notice an unrecognized "grasshopper" or "snake in your sand", R2R has a section for ID'ing those animals. Maybe try to get a picture with a description, and those in the "know" will help you decide if you have a good sea witch or a bad sea witch.
