So my fiance and I moved into our new home around 6 months ago. We have a Great Dane, and he loves to run around outside in the backyard (which wraps around to the front/side of the property).
For the first few months we were not approached by our new neighbors. Fast forward to last few months, and we've met quite a few of them on our block. Our neighbor across the street, most recently (last month or so) is a little bit overbearing as a neighbor. He comes over unannounced and regularly pets my dog or even brings his dogs over unannounced and has them play with mine.
So it's not really the fact that this is occurring that bugs me, it's more so the fact that the neighbor doesn't ask to pet or play with my dog. I've been quite kind about it, brushing it off even.
Despite this, I regularly get bombarded after a long day (RIGHT after I get out of the car). I usually am brief, but friendly and conversational.
What on earth would you do in this situation, it seems the neighbor and his wife might be pretty lonely. I've thought about inviting them over but I don't have time between full-time work, school, and taking care of my fish tanks/pets.
Again, I've been friendly, and conversational but it's just flat out scary to my fiance, me it's more comical because he's so oblivious...and obviously quite lonely.
So I need advice so I have a well rounded decision! I don't want to push away a potentially good friend, but I want to respectfully convey my boundaries without making him feel like he's not wanted. He's a great guy really, but a little rough around the edges.
