K, I'm a newbie and there was a sale so I ordered corals that were newbie friendly including a devil's hand. They came Friday, everyone went in and most seem happy including the devil's hand, polyps opened more than in the photo, that was right after I put it in the tank. I'm 99% certain it was there this morning but this afternoon it's AWOL. The place I got it from said it should be fine but I'm low key freaking out 😂 was it not happy why it let go? It's in an area of high flow and light, or it was. There appears to be some sort of debris on the rock it was attached to is that some of itself? Will it regrow?

Looks like it was super glued to the rock.
Not a good option for leather corals.
I actually glued what it was attached to to the rock. It came on a plug and it had a thin layer of rock or something that came off easily when I tried to pry it. Then I did the glue epoxy glue method. What's left on the epoxy is what it was attached to. Any answers for my questions? Was it not happy why it let go? Is the debris left behind going to regrow a new one?

If it was attached to a plug and you pulled it off and then tried to reglue it to a rock, that is the reason it's gone now.
Not much of a chance whatever is left is going to regrow a leather coral.

No it was on a bit of something hard that was on the plug, the bit of hard stuff came off the plug and that's what was glued. I didn't get any glue on the soft coral part. I know not to put glue on soft corals. I currently have a bounce mushroom in a Tupperware with rubble waiting for it to attach.

Whatever the "bit of hard stuff" that you glued to the rock probably wasn't enough surface to hold the leather frag down.
What ever it is that is left doesn't sound like it's any part of the leather coral.
So, no I don't believe whatever is left will regrow the coral.

Agree it slimed itself off whatever it was on. Follow the water flow and see if you can find it behind a rock or something, its in the tank somewhere

If you do find it, trapping it between to small pieces of rock using a rubber band or wedging it into a piece of rock with a toothpick enough so it doesn't move for a couple weeks, might make it stick around.

I found it! It's now in a Tupperware with rubble. Hopefully it'll attach to something. Do you think it detached because it didn't like where it was? I had it at the top of my rock in pretty strong flow.

I've never had any leather detach because they are unhappy amd I'm not even sure they can TBH. Glue just doesn't work for them. Rubber banding them to a piece of rock works but don't leave the rubber band on too long or this happens lol. It was a single piece from a leather that fragged itself.

LOL that's good to know, I'll leave it in its Tupperware for a few days but if it doesn't pick something to attach to I'll try the rubber band. I have 2 containers in my tank right now, they shipped a bouncing Yuma that was off the plug in the bag, and now the devil's hand. I'll put it back where I had it once it is holding onto a piece of rubble

I've never actually timed it but I would expect a few weeks maybe longer for it to attach to something. They don't have a foot to attach like a nem does. The coral has to actually grow onto the rock.
Oh really?? My discosoma attached in a couple of days, so I thought this would be similar. I'll have to see if I have a small enough rubber band...

Maybe it will attach sooner. If it's laying on rubble you may not need to rubber band it. I did because I had a particular piece of rock I wanted it attached to.

Update! I checked today and it had attached to one of the pieces of rubble. I haven't checked in about a week, so it decided in the last week to attach itself.
