Has anyone ever upgraded the dimmer knobs on a blackbox led?

My sbreef timed led, which has only power output knobs for white and blue channels is not sufficient. As of now the white led channel limits the minimum output at 10% and shuts off any lower than that.

It would be absolutely fantastic to add just a bit less power on the white channel for viewing pleasure, and proper par levels. It's definitely switch related because I hear and feel a solid " click" when the channel switches off

Usually a driver limitation. You would need to replace the driver

Well problem is the led arrangement and concurrent voltage.

10v analog/pot/or 10v pwm usually share the same 10% limitation .
Most 5v pwm drivers don't

This cluster duck is purely an "industry" self inflicted injury.

Nice graph, I have so far regretted only taking one electrical eng. Class in school.

I found a product https://www.ledsupply.com/led-drive...BgSEFdtOLDsgRZ3jvWWZFuC95OxiJL8hoCj64QAvD_BwE.

I believe I'll just need to confirm amperage rating and decide if the same driver is powering my 3rd fan. I definitely wouldnt mind just rewiring my blue driver to control both fans

One thing...some if these drivers gave internal trim pots in the sun circuit.
It MAY be possible to dim a wee bit more before experiencing issues BUT this is beyond me and my "expertise" and I'm going off memeories from a long time ago
You won't be able to "dim to 0" ever ...usually.

YMMV

Ok here is a thought. Maybe I just unplug a few of the LEDs, I think I need to open this thing up and take a look around

No, each channel needs like 90v dc to run and most are around 550mA constant current so the driver spec will be like 60-120v dc 550mA

55/2 x 3.4v approx. Yea busting the strings would be necessary though I've yet to know if anyone who Did it. Removing a diode in the right places is possible.

As to fans..some gave the 12 v right in the driver. Some use an extra power supply

At least these go down to 5%

90v night not be high enough.

Freshwater filter only or is it? Have you ever used an HOB filter on a saltwater tank?
