DIY 30x30x18 rimless cube!!!!

Looking very clean! Is the light just the glow off of your other tank or is there something up really high that we can't see in the pic?

I'm sold. My next tank will be closed loop. I like the rock a lot. Can you post a photo taken looking straight at the tank?

I have one question about acrylic, how do you clean coralline algae off of it without scratching the acrylic?
Pretty simPle they have white scrubbing pads, mr clean magic eraser, old credit card or they sell a plastic scraper..... I'm loving the closed loop bro my flow is sick!!!!! Nothing will ever settle in those rocks and everything will be happy...;)It's my first closed loop and won't be my last... They might waiste electricity but it's so clean and you can get flow any where you want it vs a vortec etc you gotta play with and still find dead spots in the rocks..

Looking great Troy Lee! Just wondering what type of cement you used to bond your rock together? Sorry if I missed that info in a previous post. I've been looking for something to bond rock together that can be put in the tank soon after application that won't affect water params. Thanks in advance.

I used a mortar kit from Marco rocks... I ordered a 10lb kit and prolly used 3 lbs.... Great stuff...;)

Actually, you missed one thing. I think you should either paint the wood on the left and right of the tank or put two black inserts there. Doesn't look as clean as it could be the way you have it now.

Well if you've nothing else to do you can build me a tank, lol JK. But seriously you wanna build me one.

Yeah I guess I should have said operational... Still need a light and I gotta build my custom ATo resi and chemical holder.... And make the inserts for those 2 voids.....

Looks good Lee, I have to come see it in person once you get all your coral in.

I'm gonna transfer them in the next couple days just gotta get a light real quick... my old display is prolly in heaven it got a 70gal water change today lol.... First time it ever really had a wc I drained it right into the new cube and through a couple pieces of rock from it in there to seed the new dry rock.... Should be ready to go right now but I don't have a light besides my little ati sunpower but it's only a 4 bulb so it won't cover the spread...

Can't you just adapt your current DIY LEDs to a new DIY fixture for the cube? At the very least as a temporary solution until you can figure out what to use permanently.

Crazy, Lee has always been anti closed loop. At least in the past few years. Now he has converted and will never look back. Looks great Lee. Your work always stands above the rest. I love how clean it all came out. A little tip when using the foam, wear gloves! It took three days to come off my hands

Yeah but I got that fixture sold don't want to chop it... Actually got that whole system sold besides the tank and stand lol.... People been waiting for this day more than me...

Well I gotta come by and drop off some cash monies so let me know when you're free this week. I'd love to see it in action!

The 600 gallon cube is almost ready to fire up. We just got the stand back from the powder coaters. He has the hammerhead pump being delivered this week sometime. I spent 10 hours building a huge all aluminum light rack for the halides and VHO's. Were getting ready to move it into the house and start the plumbing. I think we might beat your $350 PVC bill. Its getting close though. Jimmy is insane. Its a FREAKING giant tank.

Its not like one of your tanks has ever came close to 2 years. 2 months is mature in Lee terms.

Dude I was shocked it came out to $350 I guess them valves and unions add up.... All the elbows and stuff were like 57 cents lol.... Oh well... Yeah Jimmy is a nut!!! Haha in a good way I can't wait to see that huge cube rocking I almost bought it for the kids to play in or put some sharks in the garage... I got a skimmer big enough and rock and fish with jimmy's name all over them haha!!!!! He buys anything and everything....
