no good.. everything looks ugly and i dont like anything about this whole build... not even the tattoes on your arm.

One thing I noticed is that you only have two holes in you overflow. Are you not running an emergency drain, or by-passing one of the other drains. I noticed its not the traditional bean animal design. I'm just curious.:squigglemouth:

Nah just a single siphon and a emergency siphon... Always ran 3 and never had a use for the third it's a waiste of pipe and time lol....

Thats kinda of what I have always thought would work. I think I might give it a try on the next project. Less clutter. Plus a lot of tanks don't have the room for the third pipe. If you need help with the foam, let me know. I have it down to science now & can make it look natural. Not all bubbly like the crust of pizza.

Yeah I have ran 4 or 5 tanks and never used the standard durso just the full siphon and the emergency once in awhile will kick in upon start up.... The third is really a waiste IMHO I'll get a good pic for people wandering what I'm talking about.... The siphon gives you bookoo flow without any air induction there for is dead silent and no bubbles in the sump.... Gotta love beananimal for that set up it's the best there is.... I have thought the design over many times and there is no way to improve it just silent as can be and set and forget.... Pure awesome!!!1smile1

Which pipe are you cutting out exactly? From reading beananimal's website it seems as though the second standpipe is needed?

This means that the standpipe is running at full siphon with NO air being sucked in. This is DEAD SILENT. However, it also means that the standpipe is NOT handling all of the flow from the return pump. This is where the Open Channel (right) standpipe comes into play. The Open Channel (right) standpipe is open to the air via the airline attached to it. Because air is allowed in and the overall flow is fairly small (the siphon standpipe is handling the bulk of the flow), the standpipe will not siphon or gurgle. In other words, the small amount of excess flow that is not being handled by the Siphon (middle) standpipe quietly flows through the Open Channel (right) standpipe. Because the flow is very low, very little air makes its way to the sump.

The BeanAnimal setup was a modification to the Herbie standpipe design, which called for two pipes in the overflow box. You'll find a lot of helpful info if you google "Herbie Overflow" and such.

The tank is coming together very nicely, Troylee. I'm amazed that you're able to get a tank up and running so quickly... and from scratch!

I have my drains the same way...I think I read somewhere that it's called the herbie method...no matter who came up with it,it works great :D

yeah beans was a modification of the herbie..... i can't remember off the top of my head if the herbie is just a siphon and a standard durso or a siphon with the emergency siphon like i have... either way it's great and both of them deserve the credit there nice systems....;)

umm first up will be a sexy corals signature nem once it finds a home i will transfer my sticks over and anything else that fits the bill..... gotta be super bright don't care if it's a $2 coral "zoo, shroom, stick, etc or a $500 i just want a tank that pops man every piece to just shine!!!!!!!

Well for the time being that room is really crowded until my big display comes down so she's kinda frowning on the size of it still..... The stand is pretty big so it takes up some room for sure... I think once the room is empty besides the cube and my lazy boy she will like it lol..... Yeah the closet deal sucked man I think that put a bad taste in her mouth since day one... It was her idea thou haha....:tongue:
