Short answer is no. It's possible to switch out leds in those lights but it would be a completely different process than what everybody else is doing here. It wouldn't be worth the cost. Building your own light from scratch would be much simpler.

If you just want a simple on and off timer you can easily accomplish that with a wall timer. If you want to program different channels you'll want something like the storm or storm x. If you want Wifi/bluetooth than a bluefish controller is what you want. Or for ~$60 you can build a reef pi controller which can give you much more than light control. All you need to do is learn to solder.

These lights are an entirely different animal than what the forum members are using and dealing with. They are indeed very customizable and form a very good base for interesting projects. The biggest limitation to modifying these lights is drivers compatible with them that do what you need. As a fair warming these lights are very very simple creatures, they usually feature a large "dose" of 3W LED lights under driven with of the shelf commodity lenses. Most of them are simple 2 channel lights, with each channel running between 80v and 120V, so with that said.... if you are not comfortable with high voltage DC electricity stay well clear of their internals. (most diy led projects run between 18v to 36v) The LED can and are easily changed out to suit whatever you need, but, really depends on the goal of your project. If I were to start from scratch and know as much as I do now about lighting corals, I would go the route most members take (buy an already made light, or tacke some of the diy pucks right on here, and maybe put together my own array using star mounted leds).

With that being said, There is a US based company that has taken these chinese "black boxes" and made them an entirely different animal that works very well and they are well priced. If I were to travel back in time and were going for my first LED light, I would hit this company up fast, as the owner and the product development team are very very accessible with any questions and concerns... you could even walk into their shop of you were so inclined. Their lights are based on the "black box" led. but with a tuned spectrum and intensity.

ALSO, if you happen to be an owner of one of these "black boxes" they sell the upgraded spectrum board for dirt cheap with lenses and all.

If you have the time it'd be worth it to do it yourself. It is simpler than you might think.

if I was to make a light for a 20g could you give me list of parts I would need thinking on using the bluefish mine controller what else how many of the light chip should I use 2 please help

The cheapest and probably best solution would be to build your own w-lan controller using a raspberry pi.
That requires some coding as well, but its worth it. I gonna replace my storm x with raspberry too.

Does RPi have 6 pwm pins? I’m sorry, also totally new to this RPi thing but it’s exciting!

Edit: It appears to have two pwm pins. And Theatrus board only has 2 outputs as well.

You can also use arduino. I got an Uno, breakout board, 16 channel PWM board and 40 jumper wires for $16 from aliexpress.

The only thing is Pi and Arduino are 5 volt PWM if you need 10 volt you will have to do a voltage doubler circuit on each channel. Simple enough, but, just something to keep in mind.

EDIT: I just looked back and it was $11 total.

Natively yes. It’s easy to add one of the multi channel PWM chips - Ranjib Even has a guide.
