I'm just wondering if anyone has built their own APEX interface to work with the Reefbrite XHO lights. A Google search came up with nothing for me.

Thanks.

There was a post very similar to your question. Basically yes there is a way. You need a device to convert 0-10v to PWM signal for RB...

Check on this forum for links or you can google "0-10v to PWM"

Good luck and keep us posted on your results :-)

Thanks. I found the 0-10v to PWM converters on ebay, but I have no idea what to do with them :)

I guess my search skills are like my hairline - receding quickly. I have not been able to find anything on building the interface.

Did you search on R2R for the Reefbrite links? I posted a few comments on that too... However it will be hard to search for all my post since this **** posted too much lol

Yes, I saw that thread, thanks. It discusses dimming the Meanwell drivers, but I can't figure out how it would apply to the Reefbrites. The Reefbrite power supply is a 24V/4A brick that feeds into the LED strip.

The company offers a manual dimmer that simply plugs into the line between the power brick and the LED strip. I'm guessing that it is a potentiometer of sorts that varies the voltage. Their APEX interface works on a similar setup - line in from the power supply and line out to the strip; it also has a line going to the APEX.

I'm guessing that what I need is a board that can use a 0-10V input to vary the voltage. I think.

Well, you need to filter the information you need :-)

The reefBrite is dimming from PWM, how rapidly the LEDs are turned on and off. The apex is controlling the 0-10V output. The device, Voltage to PWM Converter Module, is reading the 0-10V input received from the Apex and controls the PWM output to the ReefBrite.

So you need a CAT5 cable cut in half for the wire break out and and extension cord, 2 wire type is better for this, for the reefBrite power brick. and the module

I speculate the 4 holes are for the input and the 2 holes are for the output.... the apex 0-10v will go to 2 holes and the 110V ac will go to the other 2 holes on the input side. I have never looked into this module. That is the only thing I am not sure about this..... :)

This is very clear on what it does...just cost more LOL

Are you familiar with the expression "life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans?"

Let's just say that I've been experiencing a lot of life lately. Tank stuff has been put on the back burner for a bit.
