Do You Start Siphons with Your Mouth?

Not me.....not for my tank anyway. I dip about 3 to 4 feet into the tank and then pinch off the tubing and quickly pull it out and let it rip.

Now gas, that's another story. When Sandy hit and no one had power, including gas stations, I had to siphon gas out of the fleet of cars I had so I could gas for the generator. In that case, I used a length of 1/4 tubing I had from setting up RO/DI and gave it a good suck. Fortunately I could see the gas coming up the tube and therefore didn't take a mouth-full. :D

I start with my mouth but I don't make contact with water. I let a u shape hang down just fill the u. Then when I place end in Bucket the water in u. Starts siphon

Well Renee, if you were @Paul B , you'd believe that the exposure to those micro organisms would make you stronger and you'd start to spawn!

And that had me laughing in a silent room full of people.

Yes ....and don't ask me about the taste:p

Yep and I've never tasted a bit of water in 16 years. I used to service water treatment systems so I had to do this 10 times a day for 5 years so I got quite good

I first push existing water in hose by blowing it. Then immediately pull for a short period then direct it to bucket, whatever.
Quite a sexy topic btw, keep away from wifes' eyes or :D

I do, you get pretty good at it. My annual mouthful of nastiness is not my favorite though
