Don't purchase where possible wild-caught Coral

The difference is, that it has demonstrated adaptation to the tank environment.
How hard it that to understand?
That is just not what aquaculture means. If you sell a packet of frozen shrimp that were wild caught but adapted to the tank environment and write aquaculture on it, you'll get in serious trouble.

The thing that matters is where it is cultured, i.e. made to grow, not where it was adapted to last

Well brainchild of nowhere! Since you do not have a name or a place!
Coral propagation in captivity is only division since no one has cracked growing them from eggs yet, or even being able to get them to spawn.
So aquacultured in coral refers to division and growth prior to sale in captivity.

Please listen to this song from one of my favourites Split Enz you will love them.

Why are Americans so argumentive and opinionated, the shrimp comment gave you away, Mam.

An honest coral reseller actually confided in me that wild-caught stony coral,
particularly Acropora has a survival rate of less than 10%.
He had stopped selling wild-caught Acropora for that reason
Read whole thread

So a vendor told you this stat.

Ever consider…they are crap?

I’ve never had a prob with wild caught acros

Sometimes, they bleach a little, but the secret is…give them good conditions and they will “color up” and look great!

Dude, you're the one that's over the top aggressively arguing with people who most likely know far more than you.

It's ok to have differing opinions. It's also OK to be wrong sometimes.

You need to get up to date what has been happening over the past few years. There quite a few people spawning and getting grow outs from acropora. This is just touching the surface of what lies ahead. Nothing viable for selling corals now but longer term these grow outs would be mother colonies to be aqua cultured.

Your 10% survival rate is wrong too..........it's not even close. A lot depends on how they are transported, kept once here and other variables. From what I have experienced the survival rate is more like 70% maybe more.

Aussie acros colonies may have the lowest rate of survival so I'll give you that but 10% is not factual.

I've personally seen direct shipments that have 80%+ survival rates.

Nice pictures of aquacultured frags on ceramic frags plugs Dude
Also, you need to buy a yellow filter for your camera the photos in blue light really makes them look crap
Fool, only last one is on a plug! And it’s a clip from a wild harvested colony the was grown on that plug!

The others are encrusted to the live rock they grew and were collected on!

You say we are argumentative but you come here opinionated with false statistics with no citation or references to back it up, making false statements, and then hating on peoples picture! Also, yellow filter is for day spectrum led lighting, orange filter is for blues! Get ya facts straight

Pics are using 500w halide, +/- t5, +/- led bar. You have no idea what my tank looks like throughout the day, you are commenting on a split second in time.

Lighting periods have phases. Sorry you only like high noon white peak lol

Tell them that dude, I'm not the one aggressively trying to state their position, I am not the one that is asking others to harass me. I stated my experience, that's all. And anyone who does not agree feels free to give me a serve, well Aussies don't take a serve lying down buddy.
I will give it back if I choose, and you and they can be as wrong as you like
The ones handing it back feel threatened by some of what I have to say, might they be selling of wild-caught.
Would that explain it? I do not no I do not care

That's not true. You're stating what someone told you. You even said that.

And if you're stating "only 10% success rate from wild caught" is your experience, well, maybe you're not very good at this.

Your words....

Well that would be a conflict of interest, no coral sellers or equipment sellers should be on this system at all
Its a pure conflict of interest
And what is the conflict?

If there was a 10% survival rate than any sellers of wild corals would be out of business for losing 90% of everything they buy and don’t sell in 2 weeks
