Hello Everyone i got a bad case of dinos due to my nutrients bottoming out.
I Did 3 day blackout while started to dose Neo Nitro and Neo Phos. I have been dosing 0.5ml of each everyday for over a week.
Currently my Nitrates are 9.0 and Phos is 0.29
Dinos came back and some sludge looking thing.

Should i keep dosing? Or whats another approach to battling Dinos?
FYI I do have a uv sterilizer running!

So did you stop dosing N/P at some point and the issue returned?
I only dose NeoNitrate and I add Roids to hopefully bump up phosphate. You don't have to keep dosing the phosphate since you're pushing the value too far up.

I’d keep dosing N if it would otherwise fall.

Dosing silicate can be effective boosting diatoms that may outcompete dinos.

I personally would dose denitrifying bacteria. Also if you are making your own water you may need a silicate removal cartridge to run it through. You can get a silicate tester to check.

As I have recently become aware (again), it is quite important to accurately ID what you're fighting.

I'm having horrid luck using a microscope to ID my nuisance algae, but if you don't really know what it is, you're really just throwing darts at a dart board and hoping to score.

I dont understand. Dinos do not use silicate. I recommended dosing silicate to boost diatoms which will compete with dinos.

Are you thinking he needs to reduce nitrate to get rid of dinos?

I was in a similar situation as you. I also used Neophos/Neonitro. Got my phosphates up to about 0.25 and Nitrates at 30 (I overshot my target but no harm done). Ran UV with 2 days light off (except to feed fish). Kept running UV until dinos were significantly knocked back. Stick with it, you will prevail.

Imo, your approach to fighting dinoflagellates is flawed, increasing nutrients only increases there numbers, dinos are there regardless. Manual removal, CUC, and low nutrients with vigorous maintenance is your best solution….
