Why are you even in the hobby? You should be out lobbying to make it illegal to keep ANY fish based on your responses. How many fish had to die for you to get one? How many fish have to be collected and die through the entire process from collection to you buying them and QT'ing them yourself? Seems like you are just cherry picking what to be upset about.
Certainly, but why add to even more fish loses with a flawed process?

Let's ask, is it because we all have the best interest of the livestock here?

No problem so we have different values in regard to the morality of shipping fish. That’s ok we’re all entitled to our own opinions. Second eel is doing wonderful thank you for asking but I didn’t lose the first due to shipping in case you’re wondering.
I know you didn't lose the eel from shipping or because the dr gave you a less than perfect fish. Perhaps that was a bit of a "jab" on my part, and for that, I apologize. We can definitely have a difference of opinion, that's the great part about this hobby is that we can all do with our tanks what we feel is best. I have zero hard feelings here, I'm just expressing my option of what this seller is doing, after they freely shared their process with us here at R2R.

Couldn't agree more. This person is just posting to tarnish the vendor and put themselves on a pedestal. Truly ignorant and pathetic.

Absolutely love Dr Reef's quarantined fish. It is really the only place that I purchase fish for my saltware reef tank and have been pleased with his services and products for over 4 years. I just purchased a large order that will be sent next Thursday. Dr Reef is great and definitely getting busy, but I still trust him and his quarantined fish. Never have had a problem and always grateful that he is in business. FANTASTIC!!! Thank you!!
Just throwing this out there. Thursday shipping can go bad really quick if there is a delay. A 1 day delay turns three day delay because of the weekend.

No worries man, I think you’re not realizing that Dr Reef probably has some of the lowest loss numbers of vendors in the entire hobby. He was pretty open with everything but again we can all have our own opinion.

No, I have made my point that I believe the processes that "dr" reef is employing is adding unnecessarily to additional fish loses, in a hobby where loss is already unfortunately too high, and I cannot get behind that. Please consider that the level of customer service your enjoying comes at an additional cost to livestock. I hope your second eel is doing well for you :)
Everyone that buys from me, if they didnt buy from me will do their own qt and I promise you they will have more losses than we do. Reason they dont have the clean sources we have. My business is not your standard pet shop where fish comes and goes. We have cut out all the bad source (befenficial for making money) and now we hardly have fish die in qt or shy of 9% doa in shipping. That 9% is half the doa percentage wholesalers or big retailers are doing.
Also in 5 years of qtying fish commercially we have had a handful of complaints in which most all of them had added non qted livestock to their tanks and there is only 1 case where maybe fallow failed.
So even in that regard we are 99.999% providing healthy and clean fish to people which itself is amazing.

Except for your shipping loses, which you have made clear in this thread :)

Look, I'm not trying to give you a hard time, I just disagree with some of your process, and in a public forum you're going to get "discussions". I wish you luck, I really do.

That is just assumption. We been in business for 5 yrs and we ship thursday for friday. There has been maybe a dozen times that fish didnt make it on friday. 99% of the time we got them pushed for Saturday delivery. When you do the volume we do you get some special perks. UPS doesnt wanna tick me off.
If i dont ship 2 days in a row, their sales rep drives 5 hrs all the way from Dallas just to say Hi and check on us. Not once not twice not three times, you get the point.
In the 1% that some how they were not able to push a saturday delivery even those fish 50% of the time lived and made it fine by monday delivery.

And you have the numbers from other vendors to compare? Just asking?
None at all but this seems pretty low to me. Why don’t you ask the other vendors and see. I’m sure they will openly discuss their numbers on a public thread here like Dr Reef.

Here’s some of my beautiful healthy fish from @Dr. Reef

Got to give it to a vendor who can ship out a healthy Copperband and moorish idol who are both eating like pigs and thriving in your tank!

This is just 1 horrible side of the hobby,
Because you want tropical fish, divers want money = cyanide to catch
I am just curing fish which is a moral thing to do.

Do you think I am killing 6 million fish per year? by qtying them and curing them and giving them a fighting chance again.

Friend, no one likes the ugly side of the hobby where fish are drugged and sent halfway around the world.

I'm asking you to reconsider your practice of shipping extra fish knowing that they may likely die in transit. Apparently, you've now (after feedback beyond mine) have made that a buyer option on your website, so problem solved :)

I appreciate you coming here and discussing your process. I have a difference of opinion, I've expressed that here in a very public forum, and I stand by my thoughts.

As always, best of luck to you!

It is not assumption it is fact. If a shipment is due for Friday delivery and is delayed it sits until Monday. Been there done that and I will never again have livestock shipped for Friday delivery. I read a thread not to long ago where one of your orders was delayed and you told customer you called and had arranged for the package to be delivered Saturday. Guess what, it wasn't delivered and all the fish died. Shipping delays are very common these days.
You run your business as you choose. Your willingness to accept fish deaths that could have been prevented are the reason I will never purchase from you. I do want to thank you for being open and transparent tho. I had been considering purchasing from you until I read through this thread.

Agreed, I didnt start the thread for argument sake. Problem was there and we sloved it, there are always going to be difference and I am very glad for the most part every one has been civil and we are all adults and can have a healthy discussion even if our thoughts dont match.
My intent was to find a solution and we did, I dont hold anything personal, you are very much in your rights to hold your opinion.
I was never in business to sell fish, I used to write articles and help people id diseases and tell them how to cure. That hobby and passion became a business one day. (by force not even by choice) Someone was doing qtying way before me and wanted to get out of it to start an online website to help rather than physiaclly qtying and laid all his customers and orders on me.
Anyways I am not complaining but just trying to help those clients that cant qt themselves or dont have the means or space to do so,
My goal is to provide best healthy livestock at the lowest price we can.

So how do you know facts of my business? again that is 1% of the time due to UPS shutting down all their hubs for public use. 1% of 10 thousand orders we ship in a year.
Also is Dr Reef the only company that ships on Thursday?
There is a question on checkout that asks what day works for you.
Write your answer there and stop assuming things

Lol, so we’ve now added “I don’t like the days of the week you ship” to the list of complaints. I swear, I don’t know how some people make it through a day in the wild with the bad takes on here.

Thanks @Dr. Reef for providing an awesome service, looking forward to using your shop once I receive my tank upgrade soon.

I think you’re being quite harsh here. If UPS guarantees delivery next day then it’s on UPS. He’s not promoting fish loss, that is q financial loss for him. He’s being reasonable and making it clear that sometimes things happen.
