I always wanted a pair of extreme Picasso clownfish, and this year for my birthday my wife got me a pair. So happy about em, especially since my birthday was a few weeks ago.

Wha
1. What is a dream fish that you were FINALLY able to add to your tank and KEEP it healthy?
Achilles and PBT

2. What changed or how were you able to make the leap from DREAM to REALITY?
A big enough tank to keep multiple tangs happy

3. What is a DREAM fish that you currently don't have but would like to have one day?
Love Sohal’s but would have to give up my tang gang (Achilles, PBT, Purple, 2 Spot) to keep a Sohal.
What size is your tank?

My dream fish is the conspicuous angelfish. I saw one on the cover of a book at the aquarium store over 15 years ago and have always thought they were the most beautiful and majestic fish. Never thought I’d actually spend that kind of money on a fish but fast forward to current day and I have my baby POMALABS conspic, named him King. He eats right out of my hand and greets me at the front of the tank when I walk though the door.

I’ve had my dream angel since he was a 50 cent piece. Now hes around a dinner plate. It’s been a good 4+ years now. I couldn’t ask for a better tank resident :)
Is that a Queen angel? How’s it temperament?

Purple Tang, 28 years waited to get it.

2. What changed or how were you able to make the leap from DREAM to REALITY?

My life changed to the point were I can dedicate my time to the hobby and own a tank big enough

3. What is a DREAM fish that you currently don't have but would like to have one day?

Male Scribble angel, if I’m going to run a reef tank.. no Angel fish will be in it.

The holy grail. Been in my acro tank for little time, but had him for over 1.5 years.

A wholesaler of mine got them dirt cheap. He just gave me one for free. Best looking Japanese Dragon Eel I have ever seen.

Another dream fish, had this guy for a year now, but he's in prison for eating my LPS :(.

I don't have any other dream fish. I guess it would be some really rare pencil wrasse, like an Edwardi. I only have the Mesostigma, Polynesica, and Splendens. Or maybe a really rare genicanthus. Or a really rare trigger. Or a rare fairy/flasher wrasse. Or a rare shark. Idk, I already got my dream fish.

I had a dream fish...until I read the poor grammar of the title of this thread. ha!

Call me basic but mine is a yellow tang, never had the tank size for one though.

I haven’t gotten any of my dream fish yet, but I have I few that I hope to get a long ways in the future. My number one dream fish is a baby interruptus angel. Or even better, a pair! A diamond tail flasher is another dream fish, and I hope to get a female at some point. I would also love a bandit angel. My other dream fish are fairy gobies. I’m sure there are other dream fish that I would love to have, but those are the ones that come to mind.

It’s a clarion angel, the temperament is pretty bossy if that makes sense. He definitely runs the show amongst my fish haha.
Oh wow!! I heard that they are bossy. I would love one however I would hate for it to attack and kill my other fish that I want to get

I wouldn’t consider him a threat to other fish. He’s really only semi aggressive come feeding time. I have 3 smaller anthias and a cleaner wrasse in the tank that don’t get bothered. My gem tang on the other hand is a completely different story lol.

This is my dream fish. There are a lot of different fish I have fallen in love with over the years but regal angels will always be my number 1 and moorish idols my number 2. Wife surprised me by buying the regal at a frag swap a few weeks ago for me as an early Christmas gift.

I got a MI a year ago. Figured it was already captured so it’s fate was sealed. It’s alive and thriving in my 180. My family laughed because I took a picture of him/her and taped it to the main display in hopes the other fish would accept it when it was time to introduce it after QT. It could not have gone better. No data to prove it was a factor but what the heck.

It's been 6 months today with my dream fish: Paracentropyge venusta, the purple masked angelfish.

My tips for success, with these somewhat notoriously difficult fish, is feed a lot and often, and keep them in an established tank with a diversity of flora and fauna on the rocks. My tank gets fed 6x a day, 3x frozen and 3x with an auto feeder. The venusta's behavior is noticeably off when I miss a feeding the day before. I also ensure access to sponge foods each day. There are white and purple sponges which have been stripped from the display but thrive in the sump. In addition to feeding these sponges from the sump, I ensure that the tank gets an angelfish preparation with sponge in it, I like Hikari mega marine angel, SFB Angel and Butterfly, Ocean nutrition pygmy angel formula. In the 6 months my venusta has grown half an inch to three quarters of an inch, and I believe has transitioned from Female to Male. She came in as a pair, and the male secum to infection from fighting with the burgess or another mystery disease that took the both. After that experience I highly recommend heavy UV sterilization.

Future dream fish include a female venusta to pair with mine, hopefully in the next 6 months this dream will become a reality. Longer term dreams include some of the deep water butterflies. Especially a true Roa butterfly, absolutely fell in love with them when visiting the Cal Academy.
