I am trying to get my Display tank clearer. It has a dusty / particle look to it. Right now I am running a 200 micron sock with some poly floss in it and a plastic can with poly floss in it. I also went and got a small hob filter to hang on the Dt itself. I’ve had the hob on it for a few days and just doesn’t seem to be getting anywhere. I’m not running a skimmer because my nitrates are still low. I only have three small fish in my 57 gallon Dt.
Any ideas?

I am getting some build up in the floss but doesn’t seem like much. I wasn’t sure if the particles were really getting to the overflow which is why I got the hob.
I don’t think it’s bubbles, the particles just drift around and don’t try to rise. If they are micro bubbles what can I look for or do to stop it?

Micro bubbles are caused by air being mixed with the water. It can happen in an overflow or a skimmer or a pump. Tiny bubbles tend to simply flow along with the water and never rise unless the water is still. Put some of your water in a clean glass and see if it comes clear after sitting still for 30 minutes.

I've had this issue since I started my tank. Always wanted that crystal clear water but it always has tiny particles or bubbles in it. Let me know if you find a good fix! :)

I turned off the wavemaker and turned up the pump to see what would happen. The white hazy look isn’t there anymore, but now I’ve kicked up some larger white something.
