What was he spread on the G4? I remember looking at them a few years back and my LFS said a 24/24 spread as well.

They are marketed as the same coverage. The G5 has more even spread over that 24"x24" area with no hot spot in the middle or dark areas on the edges. I think it is a great light but only for a new tank. I don't plan on replacing my 3 G3 Pros.
