Hi all,

I am finally upgrading from an 80g SCA cube after 6 years to an @Eshopps M180 72”x25x24.

(unfortunately my fish have been in a temp 75g for the last 7 months while I move).

I am looking for any type of advice on equipment for a tank this size now that I need all new stuff.

- Lighting
- Pump
- UV
- Rollermat
- Skimmer
- Heaters
- Any type of gadgets

My first main hurdle is rocks and developing a scape. What rocks is everyone using? I am leaning towards an NSA design with room for caves and goby dens.

I appreciate any help thanks!

Following! We have a 180 as well and we are also shopping around for what to put in it!

One thing I will say is get a good quality ATO (TUNZE OSMOLATOR is what I would use)

We have Ecoscape rock by Quality Marine, but we are also going to seed it with some live rock.

Many options and opinions regarding equipment. Anxious to see how you like the system. For your aquascape...go with looks good to you...and will benefit the fish/coral you will keep. Marco, Caribsea Liferock, Real Reef...whatever you want in the display. I would recommend getting some rock and or sand from TBS or Gulf LR for the sump to really seed the system.

Tank gets delivered Monday, definitely nervous the stand is around 300lb and the tank is 600 and change! The most nerve racking part of reefing is the initial getting it in place phase for me!

Good choice for a tank! I have a M180 as well. I got Ecotech wavemakers, pump, and Nyos skimmer because I decided to go with Neptune for a controller and wanted everything to integrate with it. Was on the fence with Neptune and Hydros.

I also am going with Ecoscape rock as it looked the best to me. For sand I am getting TBS sand and a little bit of base rock to help seed the tank.

I went with a Reefmat 1200 for a rollermat, had to modify the sump to get it to fit nicely though.

Heaters; going with BRS heaters controlled by AquaLogic temp controllers.

UV; decided to get Lifeguard 55W

Lighting will be Dalua X4.

That is just a list of what I decided to go with, so we will see how it goes. My order from TBS has a pickup date of May 15th, so that is go time for the tank to be ready.

It took me and three other guys to get the tank into place. Would strongly recommend getting quality suction cup handles and furniture dollies to move the tank. I ordered the Woods Powr-Grip handles on amazon and they were rock solid, you can also return them once you're done moving the tank as they are pretty expensive to just use one time. I also went and got a hydrolic lift table from Harbor Frieght. Once we got the tank inside the house we lined it up and set it on the lift table and used that to get the tank most of the way up to the height of the stand and at that point we only had to lift the tank 3" to get it on the stand and in place.

I'm looking forward to see your progress though!

Update: tank came, but it was broken out of the wood crate entirely and smashed up against the inside of the 18 wheeler so I had the refuse the shipment.

Cannot take a risk with a 240g total water volume!
