pH probe installed and break-in period has started! Hydros states up to 3 weeks possible but it's reading the same as my Milwaukee already.
 
So my RFA went missing from the sump a couple of days ago. This thing is about half an inch. There's no way it's the RFA but I don't know what else it would be. It would have had to go through the weir when I was cleaning the sponge the other day and then through the return pump...

I know you did..... but did you calibrate?
The Inkbird? Or the Hydros? The Hydros didn't have any directions so I went to their website and did the install for the temperature as it said to. The Inkbird is controlling the heaters.

As far as the pH probe goes, Hydros said to let it soak for 1-3 weeks for the break-in period before checking calibration. The website says it shouldn't need to be calibrated but to check it after the break-in period and adjust at that time. It's reading the same as my Milwaukee pen currently.
 
Ok, I adjusted the Hydros temperature per the directions on their website. Now it matches the Inkbird and the aftermarket thermometer.

The real question: I have two heaters running on the tank. So I plug the Inkbird into the Hydros and control the Inkbird controller or do I plug one heater into the Inkbird and one into the Hydros and see if I can smooth out these ups and downs?

TBH… I find my ink bird to typically be out of calibration by a couple of degrees, usually lower than actual temp, so ink bird says 78, hydros says 80… and I have checked with a calibrated lab grade temp sensor… my hydros sensors are within 0.2- 0.3 degrees of the lab sensor.


I control both of my heaters with Hydros now, I have one set to come on ant say 72 and shut off at 74, and the other set to come on at 73.8 and go off at 76.2. So maybe try staggering the settings and see if that helps

Both are in my rock bin. I’m also running 2 temp sensors, one it the sump before the skimmer and the other is in the rock bin on the opposite side from the heaters…using the pre-skimmer sensor for control and if it fails it reverts to the second one.

You’ll notice I still get temp spikes during the day when the ac is off while at work, but only 1.5ish degree increase. You can see that on Friday, Saturday and Sunday the spikes are much smaller because someone is home all day those days, so ac runs more.

Definitely looks much "calmer" on the temperature than mine...
 
I actually have my ranges set a lot closer than in my example above… I doubt my heaters have even come on since I filled the tank back in the end on May :face-with-tears-of-joy: …I run very high par and with the ac all but off during the day and the summer temps we had this year, and just now cooling off outside… so I may actually make one adjustments once (if) we get some “colder” weather…
