Funny I came here seeking answers to the same issue. It seems collectively we all are having issues. I too have watched the tank during day/night. The room my tank is in at night is pitch black. I've used a small flashlight at night to look for bugs/pests and find nothing. It's interesting that it seems to happen and nobody really has a cause. I'm also posting to see if there ever comes about as a response.

The skeleton is quite thin and frail. Could possibly be dissolving on the surface. What are your parameters?

Same issue at my tank. Skeleton of my Euphylia looks like something is hollowing in it. Lastly I've noticed a horde of polychaetes. When I'm turning my pumps off, they are coming out of the skeleton seeking for food. Do you think it can be related?
