Euphyllia skeleton issue

I have had this euphyllia for about a month and the skeleton is slowly eroding. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Parameters
29g tank up since early August with both new rock and rock used in a 9 month old 10g
Salinity - 1.025
Temp - 78
Alk - 11
Ph - 8.0-8.1
Little to no nitrate
No nitrite
No ammonia
I don't have a test kit for calcium

I would definitely get a test kit for magnesium and calcium or get someone to test it for you asap. Something might attacking it as well.

I think this is pest related'
If you have High ALK it will recede, with a low or no No3/Po4 it will bleach in you.
Looks like something is eating the skeleton.
I suggest take a look at it with a small light at night if you see something if not dip your euphyllia in a Bayer mix for a few minutes.

When I look at it in the dark there are little white hairs, maybe 1/8" long sprouted off the skeleton. Maybe 20-30 of them. Tried to get a pic to no avail. Can't really see them with the light on.

Did your coral in bayer, it won't hurt if nothing is on it but if there's you done with it after your dip.

when you get the coral off the rock. test the very bottom of the stem to see if its soft. it should be like a rock. not not a cracker. Ive run across more than a few corals(and caused a few too:oops:) the when the grown in a low cal/alk get very soft bones. Ive gotten a few rescue coral like this. I had an acro as big as your hand but was completely soft . amazing it could grow at all honestly. it makes for easy pickings esp for crabs who can scrape it and chew it for the algae.
I had a green leg that used to nibble on the tip of my tahitian muscle.o_O its probably how they get calcium and minerals. like an elephant eats mud or bovines and elk find salt

That makes sense but the ALK sits at 11 as the OP mentioned.
Now I don't know if course how accurate that is.

Maybe the black bucket which is the pro I believe.
It would nice to have a # on the CAL as well.

Yes, the coral pro salt. I've been thinking of switching to the blue bucket so I have greater control over the cal/alk levels as there have been times when it gets to 13-14 dkh with no additives.

I will get you a calcium reading as soon as my test kit gets delivered. Ordered a salifert test kit from brs last night and should have it in a day or two.

In the mean time I will dip it in case that is the issue. How many times and how often do you recommend?

This looks like damage from a invert to me.Do you have any mobile critters in the aquarium? I would give it just one good dip to start with.Let us know what you find.

So, I came home Wednesday and it was broken off about half way up. Figured I'd re-glue it anyway. So far it's still acting normal, so I'm just going to see how long it lasts and hope for the best.

I know you were wondering about calcium. It's right around 420.

As for inverts, I have two emeralds and a few hermits but I have yet to see them touch it. Due to their reputation, I watch them very closely and, outside of the daytime viewing, I check at least once a night to make sure they aren't doing anything they shouldn't. In actuality I am probably a little more obsessive about it than once a night.

I have a large branching frogspawn with this exact issue.. all stems are half gone like this, coral is perfectly healthy and comes out massive and is growing new heads.. bit confusing will try get a photo

This is happening to my one hammer! I’m assuming it’s being eaten. What eats these?? I just got trochus and some electric hermits and now this has happened?
