Severe tail damage is often caused by bacterial infection after some damage.My fairy wrasse had been doing great, the last couple days his swimming was a little off. But now he swims like he's drunk. I’ve seen similar symptoms in fairy wrasses over the years due to damage from collection or injury from darting into something. Do you have a mesh lid on your DT?
O.K., if you could post a short video, it might help confirm it, but it is possible that your wrasse is seeing a neurological problem that is sometimes seen with these fish when newly imported. The fish basically spins in a circle or otherwise swims oddly. It may try to eat, but will have difficulty getting the food. Nobody knows what causes this. I think it is a virus or internal bacteria. Some people think it is from the wrasse injuring its spinal column by running into something in the tank - I don't think it is that because the affected fish don't have external damage on their shouts.
