Before I put in my spotted mandarin, I made sure to stock quite a few pods in my fuge and display. I was really worried about how hard it can be to get these fish to thrive. I even made one of those PaulB feeders that people have had great success with, just in case it wasn't getting enough live food. Of course, the first time I fed the tank selcon soaked mysis, the little dude absolutely went to town on them. Go figure. A few months later he's put on considerable weight, almost to the point were he may need to consider if he REALLY needs to partake in both daily feedings. Had to share this chubber.

Nice fat Mandy! I might try selcon on mine. It’s healthy and I spot feed it small particles of LRS and have a ton of pods in my refugium.

I know old thread, just wanted to see what people say about mine. Had him for about 5 months. Eats frozen, hunts all day. I dont have a refugium, but seed pods. Hes in a 80g AIO, established for 2 years. Took these pictures just now.
Also, pictures dont show how vibrant he is. My camera really dulls him out

Looks good to me.

At 5 months, he’s certainly getting food.
One thing that always helps the Mandarin fish is when they are the only, exclusive pod eater.

I had great great success with the spotted versus the standard green/blue one.

He can jump, so lid is needed.

This guy is 3 years old and eats pods as well as frozen mysis.

Thanks! Yeah, I have a six-line & tailspot that definitely like to hunt.
