File fish attacked or sick?

So i found my file fish on the sandbed today coverd in hermitcrabs. It is missing a sidefin and the other ones looks a bit fryed. He cant really swim at all he is just laying down. Could the fins just be from the crabattack ?

If the fish became sick the crabs could have then began to attack, since the fish was a sitting duck.

I don't see anything in that pic that is telling of what the ailments may be.

I don't think it's likely that the hermits would have subdued the fish if it were healthy. In my experience.
