I just recently lost my purple fire fish randomly one morning and have been keeping a super close eye on the other tank habitants to see if anything else weird happens. Well turns out one of my clownfish looks like he’s struggling. Laying on the sand bed with extreme labored breathing. And then all of sudden they snap out of it like they were in a trance. However they still swim around normal and have been eating normally. I noticed my other female clownfish has done it once before aswell. Yellow watchman goby seems to be unaffected. I’m also having some invert dye off recently aswell. I’m not sure if they correlate but figured it could be valuable info. Also please excuse the ugly algae I’m experiencing right now. Still a semi- new tank.

Salinity - 1.026 (calibrated with Randy’s)
Ammonia- 0
Nitrite- 0
Nitrate- 5.2
Phosphate- 0.03
Ph- 7.8

Both your clowns are sick. What inverts have you had die off? Are you using any chemicals to treat the Algae.?
When did you add them and was any QT done? First thing I would do is add an Airstone. I don't still a lot of flow in the Video. Then, see if you can post another video. This one is too far away to get a good look at their body.

I’ve had a 3 nessarius snails, a couple cerith and two trochus snails die. It doesn’t show in the video however there is a good amount of flow. I have a wave maker and return pump both pointing at the surface. Had these clowns for several months with no issues. The LFS had them quarantined for several weeks however I didnt do and QT myself smh, I definitely should have. I’m also using no chemicals for the algae.

The snails dying are not an indicator. They very are sensitive and die off all the time in my Tank, however if you've been adding them recently, they can bring in disease on their shells. Corals and other Inverts can also. If you had your Clowns several months, then they were probably clean.

Do you recommend any treatment for my clowns? The condition is very slowly getting worse. I’m sure trying to catch them is going to be really hard aswell

It could be a number of things at this point, so the Medics need a better video. One thing, do you have any other fish or inverts in your Tank?

Both clowns are breathing too rapidly, close to respiratory collapse. This could be due to a gill disease or a water quality issue (including low dissolved oxygen). To help with breathing issues, it never hurts to add a strong air stone to a tank. In the end though, I suspect a gill parasite of some sort......

Would a freshwater dip potentially help the issue? Or any recommendations for treatment?

A FW dip might buy you some time, however, when fish are very ill, a FW dip can be fatal. If you want to try it, I would go for 4 minutes in tap water that is the same temperature as your tank.

I suspect water quality issue if snails were at LFS. For a length of time

Do you think this scenario is too far gone for treatment? I want to do everything I can to save them

If they were mine, I would setup a 10 Gallon Hospital Tank with new SW, a heater, and an Airstone. like Jay just said, I would probably Risk the Dip and then put them into the Hospital Tank. Make sure you aireate the dip water and match the Temp. Clowns are pretty tough so you may buy some time, but a medication plan is essential.

If OP wants to go that route and is in the US, Petco is running their 50% off glass tanks deal. So if you have space, it's the perfect time to pick up a cheap hospital tank.
