I’m adding a little 16x16 frag tank off my existing system ( 90 + 20) and I had a couple questions.

1) Better to run off same return with a valve to control flow? (Return pump = apex core 20) Or should I use a separate smaller pump if I have a spare pump + outlet and a little room in the sump

2) can I immediately throw some racks and frags in there? Do I need to add a fish? Or maybe just algae cleaners?

3) Also I’m running reefi uno 2.1 pros on my frag tank so significantly more par incoming. How would you handle that from my main display and the frags I make from it.

keep separate. frags are susceptible to disease and dying (fouling the water) more so then you big tank. You might also need to run meds occasionally etc. Just my $.02

even frags from my own system?
when you cut them, you injure them and they need to heal, you are better off with clean water to be sure they heal without any bacteria or other stuff....however, you CAN do what you are talking about for sure and many people do. The worry is, long term, you add frags there from other people and maybe kill the display?
You could always do your water change and put that water into the frag tank, that way when they are attached and healed the water should be much closer to tank water.
However, if you ever do put meds in there to heal frags, if connected, that goes into the display.
like I said, just my $02. I don't have the money to replace my display but I can replace frags.

What about inhabitants?

Algae eating snails?

Any little fish worth putting?

Should i throw an mp10 on the other side of the nozzle on low or medium pulse? I’m thinking chaotic and high energy flow as tolerated by tank size and just line em up with SPs clippings.

Otherwise no Wavemaker and just put my more sensitive to flow corals like my bounce mushrooms and plates in here with high light and low flow. Then just jack up chaos flow in the main tank. (I think gonna remove the box either way)

Thoughts?

I have pics now
