Frozen vs. Pellet Foods

Are there any seaweed sheets for fish that contain multiple different species? I’ve made a few for my own systems but I’m wondering if it’s already on the market.
Absolutely gorgeous picture 😍. I worked at a land based dulse and sea lettuce farm in a town called Pubnico for a season and I was constantly wondering what North Atlantic seaweeds would be best to use for reef aquaria. Do you think dulse or other North Atlantic seaweed could work in place of Nori? Dulse stuff sold for human consumption is just air dried or tumble dried with no additives. I know some people on here feed dulse but from a digestibility perspective and bioavailability perspective I am curious if it's on par with nori.

Good question I'm not sure. I'm going to look though. I have used local seaweeds for years and it wouldn't be hard to shred a few different species together then extrude them to make a paste or sheet. I imagine it's been done. I harvest seaweed during the season and other than bladderwrack most species sell for next to nothing. So I bet a lot of harvesters would love to market to aquarists it's just not a very big market to exploit.

Suppose to help enhance the immune system, healing from any wounds or illness and help with stress. Been using it for a long time….do i think it does anything, don't know.

Ok, thanks. :)

Yes I feed the Easy Reef DKi 1.3 with beta glucan. Good stuff to help them heal up from even fighting scares.

Someone here, if I’m recalling the post place correctly, wrote up a whole post about beta glucan and a few other types of immune helpers. He was giving it as a possible treatment to help fish with lympho.

Does feeding pellets lead to high phosphates? If so, how do you keep up with lowering them?

Feeding of any kind can lead to rise in P04. With pellets if you don’t over do it and the fish eat a major part of what you put in the tank, you will see less rise in P04.

I actually rinse most of my frozen food, because it’s the liquid part that causes the rise in nutrients if you don’t have a tank that is loaded with reef life of all sorts.

It’s why I love bristles worms, they go nuts on anything that can chew down. They also keep detritus and tank sand bed clean.
