Is there any reasons why the consensus for API General Cure dosing is 1x for 5-7 days, perform 25% water change and dose 1x again for another 5-7 days vs the manufacturer's instruction of 1x then 48 hours later, another 1x (no water change) and finally after 2nd dose, 48 hours perform 25% water change and remove remainder with carbon?

The first dose causes the active flukes to fall off and eventually die (without a host). The second dose 5-7 days later deals with any hatchlings before they have a chance to reproduce.

It depends what you are using it for, most of us here are using it for flukes... which the 2 doses, 5-7 days apart would be true to the flukes lifecycle. If you were feeding it for intestinal parasites, you would want to feed it at least twice a day for 10 days.

The manufacturer is recommending a dose to cover a different range of ailments, some of which may or may not actually eradicate the issue suggested. That’s why the dosages/treatments suggested on the forum are parasite-specific.

Every manufacturer wants to promote their drug as a cure-all... but none of them usually are [emoji848] (if you find one- let me know!)
