That only I can take care of my tank. Once my style was dialed in, there was no changing anything.

For me I struggled with the NO3/PO4 balance

Phosphates have no place or purpose in a tank, so those need to be as close to zero as possible

Nitrates on the other hand seem to make my zoas/palys happy if I can stabilize NO3 at 5-10ppm.

But how do you get PO4 to zero and have NO3 at around 10ppm? Traditional export methods seem to reduce/eliminate both at the same time.

I'm now a user of Lanthanum Chloride to remove PO4 only.

It works really well

Saying phosphates have no place or purpose in a tank may have opened a can of worms. Or Pandora’s box.

my Po4 is well over .1, no3 is 35, I have a lot of flow and light and my acros are growing like mad.
this whole high nitrates high po4 thing is a myth. There are tons if guys on here running similar numbers that have great success.

The best part of anyone's husbandry is willingness to reach in and guide the tank/clean it and kill invasions if necessary vs let them wreck the tank. We have to get away from the mindset that we set up a reef, refuse to touch it, and see what happens as the original design is held to the very end/takedown/startover or reaches sps perfection usually after a few tank startovers.

The attitude is more important than any skill, bc skills can be transmitted on the web or through books via steps and orders of ops

how is your test rock looking

Feed your tank everything.
Do you eat the same thing every day?

I’ve seen so many threads about phosphates, nitrates and bananas. Don’t need another one :p
