just bought the 42" Aquos and so far, we're happy with it... cannot wait for the HD receiver and PS3... :)
good luck Rev... just make sure you shop around to make sure you like the way it looks... another good brand that I hear good reviews of is Samsung... my in-laws own the 46" or 50"... and with the PS3 and Bose surround set up... it's pretty darn awesome... :)
Newer plasmas don't really have burn-in issues. Also if you do get a plasma you can run a dvd that will for the most part help break in the tv and prevent burn-in problems.
My brother-in-law is in the LCD and Plasma business and he told me that as for rite now the two best brand to buy are Sony and Samsung 120 Mhtz.
Yes, most plasma TVs now have a mode that can be run to eliminate the burn in.
However, using fake numbers, lets say a plasma have 15000 hours of use before degradation. Using the ANTI burn feature, which blasts the screen with an intense white color, essentially burns the screen back to a uniform image (this case being nothing). This uses a massive amount of the screen useful life, usually reducing its life anywhere from 100-1000 hours.
So its not something you want to do very often. The issue is if you watch the same channel a lot, ESPN for example, the ESPN static image in the corner of the screen, will burn in. Of a heads up display on video game, will burn in.
There is a reason SONY doesn't even make a plasma any more.
