Good LCD TV's?? NOT SPAM! LOL!

What are some good LCD TV's 42" and larger? I want to get one, but i want to get one that has good reviews and will be the best bang for the buck? Also needs to be 1080 widescreen.

Hey rev,

I work part time at the local Best Buy in the home theater department. The best bang for the buck is going to be a LG. Also you don't need a 1080p in that size T.V. It was specifically designed for 50'' or bigger. We have done side by side comparison with 720 and 1080 and until you get to 50'' there is no difference. Take my word for it and save your money and get the 720p.

Its not that there is no difference, however at a typical viewing distances you will not be able to tell the difference between 1080p and 720p on a 42" tv. For 50" tvs most people won't be able to tell a difference unless they are watching the tv from 6' or less. I'd rather get a good 720p tv than a mediocre 1080p tv at the same price.

just bought the 42" Aquos and so far, we're happy with it... cannot wait for the HD receiver and PS3... :)

good luck Rev... just make sure you shop around to make sure you like the way it looks... another good brand that I hear good reviews of is Samsung... my in-laws own the 46" or 50"... and with the PS3 and Bose surround set up... it's pretty darn awesome... :)

The Samsung has a good looking TV but they are not very reliable. Make sure you buy the service plan if you get a samsung. Rev pm me with your phone number and I'll help you pick out the right TV.

I just saw the 108" at the CES show yesterday-now that is the business- they also had the 1/3 of an inch thick LCD's, good stuff-sorry of being no help REV-lol

Heh, yeah the PS3 ont he aquos is very nice. I honestly get sick playing games on it. (granted we sit 4 feet from it)

And they aren't badly priced... we got the TV for 1300 last thanksgiving

honestly unless you have a glare in your room go plasma much cheaper and a much better tv they have 480hz and a much better contrast ratio also the colors are much truer on a plasma and they're much more reliable then they used to be i just bought a panasonic and it's mint

Go plasma!!! Check out the reds next to lcd. Just got a Costco deal.......Panasonic 50" for 9 bills........weeeeelllll worth the dough. :) Great customer reviews, no burn ins reported. Apparently you just have to be careful the first 400 hrs.
If you have money to spend though, go Sony. My Mom has a 43"? Sony, & she gets compliments on that sucka from everyone who comes in.

We got a 46" Samsung 1080p a year ago and so far have not had any problems. We did have problems with Samsung's home theater system and switched that to Onkyo 2 months ago.

Hey Rev if you go with a 42 inch or lower i would just buy a cheaper brand LCD screen. It doesnt make much difference unless you get a bigger tv. I have 2 Vizio in my shop and i get compliment on how clear it is. Cheap and pretty good quality.

I have the 47" Vizio LCD. I would say its not as good as the comparable Sony but for $1000, its an outstanding TV. It is a Consumer Reports best buy.

The reason I had to go with LCD over plasma is the room it is in has a very large picture window and I was told the glare on the plasma would be terrible because it does have a glass front. So consider the room it is going into before purchasing.

I agree with the Sharp Aquos suggestion myself. There are only 3 or 4 ACTUAL manufacturers of these displays, Sharp, Samsung, LG Phillips, and one more that I can't remember... I know that Sony buys its displays from someone else, so I wouldn't waste coin on a Sony name. I had bad luck with Samsung monitors, I had a pair of 20" LCD's for the computer and they BOTH failed. (I have Apple now, and couldn't be happier.) My TV is a 37" LCD from Best Buy, I think it is Insignia... It fit the budget at the time I HAD to have a TV. (My other one broke, 32" Sony that I paid $1300 for.) Now that I have the time to research, but not the cash... I would rate Sharp first, LG/Phillips 2nd, and then the rest in a group.

Oh, one other thing, comparing the screens at the store is virtually useless. The signal quality can vary from screen to screen, and the store may crank the sharpness and saturation of certain screens because that one has a "spiff" or sales incentive on it...
