I did have an outbreak of a very bright green algae last year in my display tank that was really difficult to get off the glass. It wasnt a hair algae, it was just a film on the glass, but even razor blade scrapers barely worked. I had been gone for the summer and the girl that looked after my tanks had tried every week but it just got worse. When I returned, It took a lot of effort to finally remove it. Once I had done my tank chores upon returning , massive water change, a week of slowly scraping, it was gone and hasnt returned. Ive been in the hobby for 25 years and never seen an algae like it. It was much brighter green than any I had seen. I figured it must have hitch hiked on a coral frag I had put in the tank. Hair algae just pulls off but pretty easy to remove.
