Hey everyone I’m I’m new to reefing and had my tank cycled and ready to go for coral. I set up my lighting and got my first soft coral gsp. I did a hydrogen peroxide treatment on the coral for about 4 min which seemed to kill a lot of parasites. This consisted of dipping my coral in straight 3% hydrogen peroxide, then winced it off In salt water and finally added it to my tank. It turned grey and lost color. Is it alright?

I picked up the Coral at Petco and heard a good method to kill parasites before introducing it into the tank was to give it a hydrogen peroxide bath. I did a fair amount of research, but think I messed up the bath in someway.

I'd say it was the 3%. Usually it's a 1:1 ratio of HP to Water from what I've seen. You'd be better off though getting an actual Coral dip, like Coral RX and following the instructions on the bottle.

So GSP, when retracted, is grey.

H2O2 3% is supposed to be diluted for coral dipping purposes. Google it, there are different ranges for different types of corals.

Same as if you use Revive as a dip. It's like 4 capfuls per gallon of salt water.

GSP is hardy. It's probably seriously annoyed, but it may very well still be alive.

Mine looked super sad when they came. I was worried they were dead too. But after I got them into my quarantine tank and got the flow and lighting tuned in they started popping out. 😊😮‍💨

With respect to peroxide dip with 3% peroxide, it’s a 10% solution with 3% peroxide.

I spot treat pest like Aptasia with concentrated peroxide.

What parasites were there to kill?

“had my tank cycled”

Curious as to how you cycled this tank!
