GSP dying but spreading

Ive had this gsp since I started this tank a year ago and it’s recently started spreading a lot but the part that came on the original frag is dying off. Has this happened to anyone else? My other corals are fine. Any ideas why this is happening, in the pic the right side is dying and the left is new growth

I have the same thing going on with mine! the original rock they came on is almost bare now but the things are spreading nicely. No clue why.

I had a nice rock with gsp on it do the same thing. The whole colony was really doing good until I brought my nutrient levels down. Once I did that the oldest sections of gsp just slowly started receding away but the new growth areas kept going. I gave this rock away to someone with a higher nutrient tank and sure enough it is now slowly growing back towards the areas that died off.

That might be the culprit to an extent, I stopped feeding every day to every other day.
