All,

Take a look at the pic and tell me what you think would cause an acro colony to brown out halfway only. It has been fully yellow for over a year.

Disclosure:This isnt my tank, but I am looking to buy a mini colony from this colony, and am concerned its something bacterial that will eventually spread

He has had a spike in po4 to 0.26ppm recently due to exhausted media, but does higher p04 brown out corals in this fashion? Or more evenly?

The PO4 level isn’t that high, but it could cause some browning, it’s also possible the readings are actually higher than that. Does he have algae growing in the tank?

I'm sure there's some, but he has probably 9-10 tangs.

More interested in the way its spreading and why the whole coral isn't browning together or more uniformly if its a nutrient issue.

Looks like that area hasn’t grown in a while and the front part is whats been growing. I have seen the older parts of certain colonies stay darker in general when a little stressed but not really brown.

Thanks. It happened over a 2 month period or something gradually supposedly.
