evening folks,
I have a new RODI system set up. I want to warm this water up in the can with the new salt. Looking for suggestions/comments on the various way to do it. I was thinking about just hanging a heater from the center of the lid down into the water, but figured id ask how others are doing it other than just laying a heater on the bottom of the Plastic Garbage can. also, its a 32 gallon bucket...wattage? thanks people..

I don't heat my new RODI water. I just mix the salt and do my water changes. If you're only doing 10-20% water changes theres no need to heat the water. However, if you feel the need, just put a heater in the reservoir. Easy-Peasy!

I bring my can up to temp b4 I add salt. I read a while back that bringing it up to temp cuts down on the white residue that's left in the can that's possibly robbing of you of your trace. Is it true? I don't know but I have a nice clean can after I'm done.

I dangle a 300 watt heater in my can as well as a pump. once it's half full I turn the heater on and by the time the can fills up its up to temp and I can add salt.

Cons- none

Pros- maybe I'm keeping all my trace maybe it has no affect but at least I'm not dumping cold water on my corals.

What works for me doesn't work for everyone but that's what I do.

Just get a regular aquarium heater rated for the amount of water you will be holding, add a powerhead to mix everything up.

I usually leave my lid off, so I have a 2x2 piece of wood that I lay across the top of my 20 gallon rubber made container. I used to use the suction cups that come with the heater, But they don’t stick very well to plastic. I was also scared of melting the plastic container.

I figured I'd run a cable tie through the top of the lid in a way I can raise and lower the thermostat as I want. I have a small pump I keep running in the bucket and every few hours I just move it around to change the current and it seems to mix up pretty well over a period of time. None of it seems to be rocket science at this point, so I guess I'll keep it simple. Thanks for the looks....
