height difference

I have a 30 that I want to plumb into my 55. My stands make it so the tank rims are the same height.

I want to have my 30 plumbed to my 55 via my HOB overflow which has 2 outlet hoses. I was wondering what would be the minimum height difference between the 2 where I would get enough flow through one of the 2?

Can you post a pic of what you are talking about? I think I follow what you are saying but I just want to make sure and there is no confusion.
