Hello! I have a problem with several corals in my tank. The tank is 4 years old. 2 lights under - 26HD and flow is two Nero 5. I have a sneaky suspicion one of my fish is nipping them. They don't look like they're dying, just irritated. Levels and fish below. I've seen my Damsel nip SPS and zoas so I'm thinking that's the one! I also saw my clowns nip the gonis when they were by a corner of the tank they hosted so I moved them. After this move, the gonis were thriving but a week later one of them is complety closed. The corals that are closed up are a leather, frog spawn, and goni. The leather has been closed for a month now, the frogspawn about three weeks and the goni is a week. Wondering if I should dip them OR take the damsel out? You can see the Wheeping Willow, 2nd goni, and 2nd frogsoawn are thriving in the last picture. Also have a handful of zoas and birds nest that are doing well which makes me think its a fish. Any and all help is much appreciated!

that's odd that damsels and clowns would bother corals. are they being fed enough / what has changed recently?

I feed then pellets twice a day, seaweed once a week, and mysis once a week. Should I feed them mysis more often?

I would try that first, yes. I rarely see fish nip at anything unless they're hungry. I have a coral beauty in my display which is supposedly a known nipper, and never touches any of my fleshy corals, probably because I feed heavy.

Yeah I'm also dosing nitrates on a daily basis as they easily bottom out if I dont. I'll starting feeding mysis shrimp more often. Is feeding two times a day enough?

when was the last time you changed your lights? Over time they lose their spectrum.

Well I bought them used about 6 months ago. I took them apart and cleaned them when I received them. Everything looked good. I can run a par test against the numbers I documented when I original put them up, but not sure this will give me the spectrum or not?

Ok, if you have the cash, just go ahead and replace them then mark the date on the bulb with a magic marker (that was my MO). That way you know when to change them. Look up each type bulb from a manufacturer to see the life expectancy. Happy reefing........

Would I need to replace the bulbs or the LEDs in the light?
Oh, hey, I didn't know they were LEDs. But, since they were used you don't know how many hours they have been used for. I would replace the whole bulb unless they make replacement lights that can go in the fixture.
