hi its my first time to post here so if i did something wrong give me some slack..

fishtank size is 64L(55L water)
set this 100days ago
ammonia, nitrite: 0
nitrate: ~10mg/l
pH: 8.4
temp: 26 celsius degree

i brought two clownfish last week and its exactly 7 days later now
i got 4-5cm one and 3cm one.
bigger one is doing great eat well poop well wandering well

but this tiny baby didn't eat for 7 days and now i almost see his backbone
and his gills swelled 😞
i fed frozen brine shrimps too bit he doesn't have appetite i think
and he just stay swimming in same spots always

and i saw the gill swelled so i did praziquantel dip for 3 min
(high concentration: 1ml/L)
and he almost died he lay down..
so i put him back into main tank and now he moves like before but still his gills swelled..

i don't know what should i do..
i don't think its ammonia burn cause its 0 and other fish is okay
is it possible that its just adjusting symptoms so i just need to let him rest?
or is it parasites so need to put prazi?
please help i don't want him to die...

Camera is going in and out of focus and may be associated with brook as I see what looks like mucus but can also be glass reflection. Fish is quite thin and breathing heavy placing fish in distress.
How were fish acclimated and for how long?
In addition, a good universal treatment for clowns is Ruby Rally pro which is reef safe with coral and covers various issues associated with clown fish

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

I see this issue quite often, but it doesn’t seem to have a single cause. The clown is breathing very rapidly and it is swimming oddly, weakly. I think that in many cases, the cause is an untreatable internal parasite called coccidia.

Is the other clown totally symptom free?
Does the tank have good aeration?

thanks for replying..
baby fish passed away😞
he was doing great for 3-4 days and then i saw the gill swelled.
i tried praziquantel but it made the symptoms worse.
i think he was already too weak to get ober the treatment.
i put 5ml prazi in the main tank(55l)
now the bigger one is just hiding whole day.
idk what's happening 😭 is this drug not safe for fish?
i keep checking parameters and ammonia, nitrite are 0 and nitrate in not that high(~10)
and im changing water to get rid of this prazi

other clown was healthy before small baby died but now he doesn't eat😭😭 i put prazi in the maintank 0.1ppm and i think its making them breathe harder.
i added airstone and changing water now,, will never put drugs in main tank....

I wonder if you have the prazi dose correct? I’ve never heard of dosing it at 0.1 ppm, the standard dose is 2 to 2.5 ppm.

Here is a post I made about dosing prazi:

Seachem makes this good medicine you put it IN there food, it’s a 2 part so it’s either metroplex or kanaplex. You pick one of those AND ALSO focus

Focus isn’t sold together Nd the focus will help it bind to your food so you buy either one of those two and the focus. And that will help with internal parasites

You need to be very careful to get the dose correct when using medicated foods. In addition, oral medications do not work well on external fish parasites.
Kanamycin is toxic if you get the dose too high, and metronidazole is bitter and the fish will refuse it if the dose is much more than 1% by weight.

Here is an article on proper dosing of medicated food:

I’ve never seen Microcotyle on clownfish. Microcotyle are larger than most other Monogeneans, and they have a large hook filled haptor at one end that is pretty distinctive. I’ve only seen them on a type of ray.

i didn't research enough so didn't know there are more pathogens 😓
now the healthy one breathing rapidly and hide in cave the entire day
i thought its a parasite which moves to new host after the host dies
but they didn't flash that much so i doubt it was a parasite
idk what to do,,,

Sorry, I don’t know what to suggest to you at this point. Have you tried a whole praziquantel treatment or just a dip?

Exactly what the gentleman said, proper dosing! Thank you for providing the link for this, and yea I said internal parasites in my comment that’s why I said the seachem medicine was better. Now like you said external well that’s a whole different thing and issue 🙂
