Hi guys,

Got my anemone and a torch coral last night. Sat and watched them for a few hours last night and no issues with any fish etc.

Wake up this morning to see this...( photos) now I don't know if this is normal or not as its my first time but to me they look dead. Please tell me I'm wrong?

They are not dead (they can look like that for days or weeks and still live).

They do appear to be unhappy but that could just be them needing to acclimate to your tank, lights etc.

I would double check all your water parameters and as long as nothing is out of whack - wait a few days and see how they do.

Not dead, Acclamating . And if these were taken in the middle of the night , a lot of corals retract at night . Wait till the lights are on to see how they are doing ,but give it some time.

What is your pump head flow rate?
Wave makers are great with circulation and not having dead spots in tank.

Did you get your copper to zero? I would probably use some for a while just to be sure. If not get some cuprisorb right away. Your anemones do not look well or like they are aclamating in my opinion. Good luck.

If they don’t start looking better by Monday I would go to LFS and get a hydor circulation pump put more flow in tank.

Not dead nor abnormal. They are made up of cells and membranes. Likely flushing itself out or adjusting to tank conditions. Moderate light and water movement. Should open up tomorrow

Your equipment is fine but don't be surprised if your clowns don't fancy up to the nem at first or ever. I have a carpet nem, 5 rock nems, a long tentacle and a BTA. My two clowns won't go near any of them.

Thanks folks, the torch came back to life after a couple of hours with the lights on but on one of the heads, a couple of the tentacles have went grey/black.... the nem is still closed but i have seen it open up a bit and close again. I'm at work now but will get a photo when i get home with the lights on to see what you think.

Yeah I got it all out, made sure of that... then done a 120L water change and fresh carbon a day or 2 before they went in

Get a Green BTA anemon. You don't need anything specific for them considering you haev some clowns to host it and decent lighting! I have found out they prefer very low lights.

You're good - you've got changes / movement out of them - they should be just fine.

If they were going to die right away they would stay shriveled up and not open. A dieing anemone turns in to a small blob that you really can't see even has tentacles - and usually doesn't stay attached to anything.

This is what the anemone looks like at the moment.

One head of the torch is looking well but the other seems to have lost a few tenticles.

Would 1 MP10 be anough flow for my tank? I dont want a cable in the tank thats the only reason im looking at vortech, but grudge the £350 for an mp40 which to me seems like overkill?

Imo 2 weeks is not enough time for the sand and rocks to leach out the residual copper....i would keep.running a poly filter or some other type of copper removing media....

I know... It will leach out for ages yet but the general consensus is that carbon etc will put it out as the rocks and sand leach it.

Carbon does a poor job at removing copper. I would still.suggest a copper removing media.

I would not add a powerhead. Instead I would get a larger return pump with a 2-branch tip thingy with those water cyclone thingies. Someone probably knows the name of the thing I am thinking of
