I’ve had a saltwater fish for many years and I’m finally getting into corals. What are some coral recommendations for a first timer like me. I have a 55 gallon tank with a fluval 407 filter, I’m in the process of setting up a 15 gallon ( 20 gallon tank 15 gallon volume) sump with protein skimmer (not sure which one yet recommendations welcome). My tank is new only about 2 months old so I have plenty of time to plan, too much really . I would like to start with a few fast growing/ obvious if they are happy corals. Thanks!

Start with softies as said above. Give them time in your system before making a jump to LPS. This allows you time to learn to control your parameters, which gets harder and is less forgiving as you jump to LPS then SPS.

Thanks for the vids!! I think a zoanthid, Xenia, green polyps, and a candy cane. Is there any issue with adding all at the same time? Besides the drop in nutrients that I’m sure would follow.

Not a bad list at all, but maybe do some more research on the Xenia. While awesome looking stuff, that one in particular can really overrun a tank like a weed. It can magically appear in places like your overflow. Many people won't have Xenia after having had it overgrow a tank, so decide for yourself if you want to give it a try. It is cool looking.
